A serious cardiac arrhythmia is a main cause of cardiac sudden death. It is well known that the arrhythmia would be induced by spiral waves and spatio-temporal chaos on cardiac muscle. The muscle can be regarded as excitable media, such as the FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) model. The present report provides a systematic procedure how to design the periodic stimuli that suppress a traveling wave in a one-dimensional piecewise-linear FHN model. This procedure is verified by numerical simulations. |
