A Method of Organ Registration using Non-Parametric Belief Propagation and Its Performance Validation

(in English) This article proposes a method for registering a surface of an organ in a 3D medical image with proba-bilistic model of surface. In our method, an organ surface is represented by feature points that arranged on an organ surface. First, we construct the probabilistic models of organ surface about its position, image pattern, and local deformation. These models are constructed by feature points' positions, image extraction operaters, and relative positions, which points on learning data. Feature points which on learning data are arranged automatically using
an entropy based validation method. For the registration, we estimate surface position by estimating feature points positions using probabilistic models. For the estimation, we use non-parametric belief propagation. We treat model constraction and estimation method as a framework which united and statistical, therefore we can also estimate
accuracy of registration. The results of validations of this method using artificial images and results for medical images are presented by this article.
