In mobile communication system design, spatial correlation of received signals is an important metric for predicting the performance of time or space diversity techniques, which are used to improve the communications quality, and MIMO techniques, which are used to implement higher transmission rates. Up to now, it has been difficult to analyze theoretically the spatial correlation characteristics for an arbitrary power angular spectrum (PAS) of arriving waves. In this paper, we propose a universal approach for analyzing a spatial correlation function. In this approach, the issue to analyze the spatial correlation function resolves itself by Fourier analysis. In addition to that, this paper shows the example of spatial correlation analysis with proposed approach. |
