Maiko Kamata, Daishi Kato, Kazuo Kunieda, Keiji Yamada (NEC) SWIM2009-20
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Co-creation is a new methodology of developing service or products which involves not only companies and developers but also consumers and users. Contribution from various backgrounds is expected to enrich the output. Thus, an essential key for successful co-creation is to motivate larger amount of people to contribute the activity. In our research, we focused on an open content encyclopedia Wikipedia, one of the salient fruitful examples. We asked 233 Wikipedia frequent contributors to answer our online questionnaire about their motivations. 209 valid responses were analyzed with factor analysis by maximum likelihood method and Promax rotation. As a result, we extracted following four factors: Activity Attractiveness; Participants’ Convenience, Evaluation, and Knowledge Expression.
