On Use of Multi-Metric Projection in Adaptive Filtering
Masahiro Yukawa (RIKEN) CAS2009-101 SIP2009-146 CS2009-96
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Efficient-metric designing has been shown an effective approach to improve the performance of adaptive filtering algorithms with the aid of a priori or a posteriori information. However, we may have multiple types of such information available. Suppose, for instance, that we have three metrics based on three types of information, and the relative reliability (or priority) of each information is 50 %, 30 %, and 20 %, respectively. How should we do with those metrics? We address this issue by two approaches: one is based on the adaptive projected subgradient method (Yamada 2003) and the other is based on the multi-domain adaptive learning technique (Yukawa, Slavakis, and Yamada 2010). The second approach seems to be more relevant to the issue, since it is tailored to deal with multiple types of information. Nevertheless, we show that the two approaches yield almost identical results.
