Inter-MBS zone interference suppression scheme using MBS zone specific scrambled pilot

(in English) In IEEE802.16m standardization, the SFN (Single Frequency Network) transmission over multiple MBS (Multicast and Broadcast Service) zones has been considered. In the SFN transmission over multiple MBS zones, the receiving performance of a MS (Mobile station) at the edge of a MBS zone would be degraded by the inter-zone interference. A conventional scrambled pilot scheme could be used to improve the channel estimation accuracy by suppressing the inter-zone interference among pilot tones which were multiplied mutually orthogonal code sequences among MBS zones. Consequently the receiving quality of a MS can be improved at the edge of a MBS zone. On the other hand, the propagation characteristic of the MBS zone configuration using a SFN transmission has a larger delay spread and severer frequency selectivity than that of a single base station zone. The interference suppression performance of the conventional scheme is, in general, deteriorated by the inter-code interference under such propagation channel. In this paper, we propose the performance improvement technique based on the scrambled pilot scheme to reduce inter-zone interference in the multiple MBS zone configuration using a SFN transmission, and the effectiveness of our proposal method is verified by the simulation evaluation.
