Implementation and Evaluation of Handoff Method between Access Nodes for P2PSIP and IMS Cooperating Networks

(in English) As a new generation network architecture, the authors propose the concept of “Minimum Core”, which minimizes the mobile core functions by moving several of those which have been located mainly in the mobile core, to the access level, and thereby adapts to high-speed and large-scale networks. For the baseline technologies, the authors have proposed (1) the data path optimization method for quality improvement of voice communication and reduction of the load of the mobile core, (2) the P2PSIP and IMS networks cooperation method for shortening the call setup time, and (3) the mobility provisioning and fast handoff methods by and between access nodes for executing seamless mobility. In order to integrate these methods as a total system, it is necessary to consider the cooperation among these technologies. This paper proposes further enhancements for supporting handoff between access nodes in P2P and IMS cooperating networks with maintaining the optimized route of application data from a data communication terminal that requires a session setup such as VoIP. It then shows effectiveness of the proposed methods using an experimental system.
