Performance Evaluation of A Multipath Routing Method for Highly Reliable Wireless Communications

(in English) It has been long believed that wireless transmission systems have low reliability and long transmission delay. Hence, many applications in which much high reliability and much short transmission delay are required have been supported by wired transmission systems, although wireless systems are potentially preferred there. To bring the benefit of wireless systems into such applications, wireless systems must fulfill both much high reliability and much short transmission delay. For this end, it is necessary to use ``broadcast characteristic'' inherent to wireless transmission.

In this paper, we propose a novel multipath routing method which transmits the same packets along selected multiple paths simultaneously. Our proposed method makes use of {\it a measure of distance between paths} for selecting multiple paths and {\it received signal strength indicator} for packet forwarding to reduce the fading/shadowing correlation between the paths. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method by computer simulations.
