Fast Rerouting Method in Layer-2 Switches

(in English) In layer-2 networks, spanning tree protocols (STP, RSTP, and MSTP) are the most popular methods to get redundancy and to realize rerouting function. However, spanning tree protocols are designed as topology free algorithm; therefore, the processing time of spanning trees are longer than that of other rerouting methods specializing to specific topologies. In this report, we propose new rerouting method to shorten the processing time of spanning tree protocols by specializing to ring topology. The new method is based on spanning tree protocols; therefore networks, which use proposed method, can interconnect with networks which use conventional spanning tree protocols.
