Impact of lattice reduction on the cellular uplink using multi-user MIMO

(in English) The bit error rate (BER) performance of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) transmission can be improved by introducing lattice reduction (LR) aided signal detection. Recently, we have investigated the effect of LR aided detection on the BER outage probability of uplink using multi-user MIMO multiplexing in a single cell environment. It was shown that LR aided detection can achieve almost the same outage probability as maximum likelihood detection (MLD). In a cellular system, same channels are reused in spatially separated different cells in order to efficiently utilize frequency resource. Therefore, co-channel interference (CCI) limits the performance of signal detection. The CCI can be suppressed by increasing the same frequency reuse distance; however, the frequency utilization efficiency degrades because the required system bandwidth increases. In this paper, we investigate the BER outage probability and link capacity of the cellular uplink multi-user MIMO using LR aided signal detection.
