Joint channel estimation and LDPC decoding over MIMO channels by nonlinear optimization

(in English) In wireless communication systems, a training sequence is often used to obtain the channel state information (CSI) and its estimate is assumed to have no error. However, this approach has the higher PER than joint maximum-likelihood channel estimation and decoding. Wadayama proposed efficient decoding algorithm for LDPC codes based on convex optimization. This decoding algorithm is designed for linear vector channels. In this paper, according to Wadayama method, we propose to replace joint Maximum-Likelihood Decoding (joint MLD) problem for MIMO systems with continuous optimization and apply the interior point method. ILSE algorithm is known as an approximate joint MLD algorithm. This algorithm iterate MLD respect to codeword and MLE respect to channel matrix. We also propose to combine proposed method with ILSE algirithm. Computer simulation shows that two proposed decoding algorithms achieves better PER performance with less complexity in many cases compared with conventional decoder.
