Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The burst transmission scheme based on the transmission opportunity (TXOP) is defined in the IEEE802.11e standard, with which a wireless node can transmit multiple frames consecutively for a maximum channel occupancy time to reduce the overhead of the contention time. The burst transmission is standardized in order to improve the multimedia transmission such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for singlehop networks, and hence the performance for multihop wireless networks is not sufficiently discussed. This paper considers the performance of the TXOP mechanism for multihop wireless networks. Focusing on a three-node chain topology, we model it as a tandem queueing network with two nodes.
The end-to-end throughput is derived and the analysis is validated by
simulation. Numerical results show that the TXOP mechanism works well
for multihop wireless networks. It is also shown that the performance improvement by TXOP mechanism is limited for the frame transmission to the relay node.
