An Improvement of a Composition Support Tool for 9 Languages using using Web Search

(in English) In recent years, the opportunities to read and write a sentence in second language such as English and Chinese have been increasing. We consult dictionaries to find usage of words and example sentences when we write a sentence in second language. However, we often cannot choose the suitable word and evaluate the appropriateness of our own sentences, because there are few example sentences in dictionaries. For these issues, assuming that multilingual text data on the Web are an immense set of example sentences, it is effective to use example sentences and the hit count which are obtained by a search engine for multilingual composition. Therefore, we are developing a support system for multilingual composition using useful information obtained by a search engine. In this paper, we propose new functions for previous tool, such as extension of detection method of mistake candidates in a sentence, extraction and display of bilingual example sentences in English and Japanese, and support for smooth input using a search log.
