We have previously proposed the transmit diversity scheme based on a nested code, which named nested transmit diversity. The characteristics of the nested transmit diversity are as follows. Without extra resources (e.g., antenna, time, frequency), the nested transmit diversity can obtain diversity gain over block Rayleigh fading channel. The encoding and decoding operation are simple but very efficient. In the nested transmit diversity scheme, each information sequence is encoded and superimposed onto the other codeword with XOR operation. Compared with a signal superposition (hierarchical) modulation, due to use of XOR operation, the nested transmit diversity has no waste of resource (transmission power) in the case when the receiver knows the superimposing factor. The performance of the nested transmit diversity depends on the number of superimposing (transmitting) and the reliability of superimposing factors. With above characteristics, we design a novel unequal error protection system. From the outage analyses, the performance deeply depends on the number of superimposing. Finally, we show the design criterion of the unequal error protection system with nested transmit diversity. |
