A Gaussian Beam Theory for Scanning Reflector Antennas Fed by Defocused Arrays

(in English) In this report, a novel design theory is proposed to provide beam scanning characteristics of the reflector antennas fed by defocused arrays. The proposed theory will be derived by extending the previously proposed theory, which is based on the Gaussian beam mode, to laterally displaced feeds for scanning beams. Calculated antenna gains by the proposed theory are in good agreements with the ones by the physical optics and its effectiveness will be confirmed. The theory will immediately provide the optimized defocus lengths or aperture sizes of the defocused arrays.
