Analysis for MEG response which is evoked by binaural stimulus

(in English) This study was aimed to delineate auditory processing for the sounds that are given distinctively to the right and left ears by using frequency-tags, i.e., amplitude modulation of sounds at different tag-frequencies. We measured binaural auditory steady state responses (SSR) of MEG having the tag frequencies and elucidated “scale illusion” which results from binaural interference. The amplitude of SSR was modulated in melody condition, in which scale tones of different contours were continuously given to the two ears, by attention from the amplitude of SSR in control condition with the same tones given intermittently. The amplitude modulation was different in the left and right hemispheres, suggesting distinct processing in the two auditory cortices underlying the scale illusion.
