Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, there is an increasing number of researches and clinical trials of visual prosthesis conducted all over the world. For a better understanding of the perceptual and psychophysical aspects of prosthetic vision, simulations of phosphene induced with electrical stimuli are required. Here we made a simulation study on phosphene perception using a silicon retina that can be employed as a preprocessing device for cortical prosthesis. In these simulations, edge enhancement and temporal filters were introduced to mimic the visual information processing of the retina. The simulations were conducted in real time with different parameters, i.e., the number of electrodes and filter processing. The simulator developed in the present study is effective to optimize the stimulation of cortical prosthesis.
