A framework for supporting system operation management with analyzing configuration parameter dependency

(in English) Information and communication technology systems are becoming complicated for delivering high availability internet service. Since the software on the systems have configuration parameter dependencies among the system environment, the configuration parameter setting becomes difficult for the operator. Configuration management with templates that are coordinated parameters has been developed. However, previous approaches require the system designer to prepare an appropriate template for each system environment. In this paper, we propose a framework to provide the configuration parameter dependency information required for preparing the appropriate template. In this framework, we describe the method for analyzing configuration parameter dependency from prepared templates with orthogonal array table. We illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the web 3-tier system environment. Our evaluation shows that the necessary template preparation is significantly reduced, and the system designer can prepare the correct templates.
