Image Processing Method which enhances the subjective impression on surface thickness for Fur and Cloth

(in English) Recently, in the field of motion pictures, especially cinema in the U.S., “3D” or “Stereovision” technologies have been noticed remarkably, and in the market of display monitors, stereoscopic vision display without grasses has been succeeding.
We have been researching technology which can transfer human impressions for “material” and examining image features which are keys to perception when viewing with both eyes. We already extracted the frequency features based on binocular disparity which showed strong correlation with the surface thickness for cloth and fur materials. In this report, we show the image processing method which can enhance human impression for the surface thickness, and the effectiveness of the method by means of psychological experiments.
