A system for providing optimum weight loss related information through a machine-based program, based on the user’s temperament was explored. A questionnaire survey inquired about the participants’ choices in target setting, planning, as well as in viewing and evaluating the progress reports of their weight reduction program. Then, participants were classified into four temperament types based on their scores on procrastination and perfectionism. Results indicated that the optimum method of information presentation differed across temperament types. The possibility of improving the efficacy of a hardwired system to support weight-reduction by providing optimum information according to the user’s temperament is suggested. |
