Study on Measurement Method of Twisted Pair Cable with Shielding Sheath

(in English) Recently, the application field of a high-speed differential transmission system has expanded, and shielded twisted pair cable (STP cable) is used for the system. Therefore, it is necessary to understand various characteristics of the STP cable. But if we consider neither the measurement method nor the measurement system at the time of measurement, we might get the characteristics of the unreasonable condition. In this report, we studied the measurement method of the noise immunity level about the method of the terminal treatment of the shielding sheath in STP cable. First, we defined four kinds of terminal condition of the shielding sheath, measured the transmission characteristics and the reflection characteristics of the cable to the terminal condition. Next, we focused the index of the noise immunity level of the differential transmission system such as LCL, LCTL and the induction level. We measured the characteristics to the terminal condition of the sheath. Next, we measured the induction level, which is ratio of the exogenous noise to the differential mode signal or the common mode signal, and analyzed the induction level to the terminal condition of the sheath. Finally, we considered the influence of the position in which the terminal condition of the sheath was treated, from the result of the noise immunity level.
