DC power supply systems have been gathering attention because they have lower power loss and higher energy efficiency compared to conventional AC power supply systems. Especially, digital controlled DC-DC converters are now actively addressed in order to achieve further improvement of energy efficiency. This paper addresses an FPGA-based digital control for DC-DC converters. The control method employed in this study is a novel fast proportional digital PID, which improves the traditional PID control. A DC-DC converted with this control method is implemented with an FPGA and its dynamic and static characteristics are evaluated. As a result, effectiveness of the fast proportional digital PID control is shown in terms of accuracy of control. |
