| (in English) | Conventional information processing, in which data are first stored in memory LSI (Large Scale Integrated circuit) and operated by logic LSI such as CPU (Central Processing Unit), has to bounce data back and forth beyond the bisection formed by the memory LSI and logic LSI. In a stream processing paradigm, generated data are directly input to a series of arithmetic circuits arranged according to structure of a target process. While pipelined behavior of stream processing achieves high performance with low power dissipation and is suited for real-time processing, the practical value has not been highly appreciated since its flexibility is far inferior to software processing. | |
