Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) transmission is incorporated as the technologies to improve the frequency utilization. Cooperative transmission, which achieves a diversity effect by using relay stations, has also been proposed with the aim of expanding the service area. Cooperative transmission can be applied to MIMO systems. Although the performance of MIMO transmission using the relay station is affected by the actual propagation environment, especially the difference on the pathloss conditions among three nodes (base, terminal and relay stations) and the spatial correlation among antennas. In this paper, we clarify the optimal location of the relay station on relay MIMO transmission when considering the pathloss conditions and ricean factor ($K$ factor) which is assumed in outdoor scenarios. |
