Optical Design for the Dome-A 5m Terahertz Telescope

(in English) Dome-A, Antarctica is considered to be one of the best site for terahertz astronomical observations. A 5 meter aperture terahertz telescope is going to be built at Dome as the first stage of the Chinese Antarctic Observatory project. This paper presents a proposal for the optical design of the antenna and quasioptical system for the Dome A 5 meter terahertz telescope. The quasioptical system provides the optical coupling between the antenna and three receiver channels operating between 850 GHz and 1.5 Thz. Some numerical simulation results are also given to show the optical performance of the proposed design.
