Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The intersection is a place where many accidents often occur. Many collisions occurred at intersection are so reasonable that drivers do not take care of other vehicles in blind spots. In this research, we propose a basic method for providing drivers with warning information about vehicles in blind spots. In our method, the system estimates blind spots based on driver's viewpoint and shapes of other vehicles. Our system then detects vehicles in blind spots and presents warning information about the vehicles visually. As a result of experiments, it turns out that our system can obtain information about blind spots with more than 90% accuracy. In this paper, we explain the detailed method for estimating blind spots and then detecting vehicles in the blind spots, and discuss the problems of proposed method which we encountered in the experiments.
