This report describes experimental results of 100,000 operations for an electromagnetic contactor at the load current of 5A with source voltage from 100 to 160V. The arc duration, contact resistance, arc energy, and electrode mass change are measured. As a result, the arc duration increased with the source voltage. In addition, a cathode electrode loss can be found to increase in proportion to total arc energy, independently of source voltage. |
