PPP-BOTDA system capable of in-the-field distributed fiber sensing with 2cm spatial resolution

(in English) The paper presents enhanced Pulse-Pre-Pump Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (PPP-BOTDA) method, capable of achieving 2 cm spatial resolution in-the-field environment. The principles of the method were already reported in our previous paper. Its implementation required, however, the rack type hardware, making in-the-field measurements very inconvenient. In this paper, the new system design is described. First, the method fundamentals, the maximum achievable sampling and resolution are briefly discussed. Next, the new NEUBRESCOPE NBX-6020A system configuration is outlined. Finally, the measurements results, obtained by means of NBX-6020A for 2cm spatial resolution, 1cm sampling, and accuracy of ± 25 με are presented. The analysis and measurements results clearly demonstrate that the new system is capable of achieving very high, centimeter order, spatial resolution and accuracy. Moreover, it enables one to perform the in-the-field measurements.
