Measurement technique of Raman gain efficiency spectrum distribution using two reference fibers
Yasuhiro Tsutsumi, Masaharu Ohashi (Osaka Prefecture Univ.) OFT2010-14
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A new technique for measuring Raman gain efficiency spectrum distribution using an OTDR and two reference fibers is proposed. Our technique is an indirect technique for estimating the Raman gain efficiency spectrum distribution from the relative-index difference, the wavelength dependence of mode field radius of the fiber under test and the Raman gain efficiency spectra of the two reference fibers. In order to confirm the effectiveness of our proposed technique, measurements of Raman gain efficiency spectrum distribution are made on the optical transmission line composed of four different kinds of fiber. Moreover, Our present technique is compared with the direct technique using a spectrum analyzer.
