Spatial Domain Resource Sharing for Overlapping Cells -- Performance evaluation using measured channel in apartment environment --

(in English) Given the increase of communication cells in WLAN and similar systems and the shortage of available frequency bands, the need to address inter-cell-interference (ICI) is growing more urgent. This paper introduces, Autonomous Control of Interfering Streams (ACIS), a simple and practical method of suppressing ICI between overlapping cells established using multiple antenna arrays. The method is simple in that one of access point (AP) merely uses the sounding signals to estimate channels of neighboring terminals, in addition to own terminals, to determine the power levels of individual channels that will suppress ICI against the former while ensuring adequate communication to the latter. We evaluate its performance in terms of total capacity using measured MIMO channel in an actual series of apartments with 4 element antenna arrays. This performance shows that the method can increase the average of total capacity by up to about 2.1 times compared to the standard TDD technique when communication cells put on Room1 and Room5.
