Creation of multipath-rich propagation environment is needed to evaluate the performance of a MIMO communication terminal assuming the operation in a real environment. For this purpose, there are tow types of schemes. One is a radio echoic chamber named "reverberation chamber" surrounded by 6-plate metallic walls. The other is a “fading emulator” which arranges a number of actual radiation antennas representing scattering objects. Since both schemes have merits and demerits, we have to select one taking the evaluation purpose into account. In this paper, we propose a new scheme by means of hybrid-type structure which can produce time-varying multipath propagation environment in a reverberation chamber. Based on the actually developed system, we evaluate the fundamental performance of the environment. |
