Preliminary Analysis of Terminal Authentication Scheme Based on Radio Propagation

(in English) As a countermeasure for spoofing attack in wireless communication, a new authentication scheme based on radio propagation has been proposed. The scheme is based on that radio propagation characteristics have little or no correlation for receiving points more than some distance apart in a multipath fading environment. However, since the scheme requires relatively wide bandwidth to increase the successful authentication rate, it is difficult to apply to a wireless system where available bandwidth is limited. In this paper, we propose an authentication scheme based on radio propagation using a variable directivity antenna called the ESPAR antenna to solve the problem and evaluate the fundamental authentication performance of the scheme by computer simulations.
