In this paper we describe a new design technique of linear phase FIR
filters with clearly-defined transition bands response.
The frequency sampling method is specified in the frequency-domain and its inverse Fourier transform gives the desired filter coefficients.
However, the Gibbs' phenomenon occurs often at the band edges such as well known.
Our proposed method defined over all frequency regions, especially transition region is clearly-defined using MGFs.
The smoothness of the MGFs connection to a passband-edge and a
stopband-edge are controlled as two fixed-points and MGFs exponent
parameter $\alpha$.
As a design example, our proposed filter design procedure and a design example of the halfband filter will be given. |
