(in English) We propose a new method of single-shot laser range finding, which has high time resolution. The method is that two reference signals, which are sinusoidal and have same frequency and deference phase of 90 degrees each other, so-called "quadrature signals", are sampled by a reception signal timing from a target. The measurement distance is obtained from a phase calculated from the arctangent of the ratio of the two sampled data and the frequency of the reference signal. A series of proof of concept experiments have been conducted, using an experimental production. The range resolution of 1.6 mm(1σ) has been achieved, which corresponds to the time resolution of 11 ps. This paper describes the principle of measurement, an experimental configuration, and results of proof-of-concept experiments on the method.
