Proposal on Automated Testing for IP-VPN Provisioning

(in English) The demand for IP-VPN is expanding briskly in corporate market. IP-VPN provides the secure communication between branches. When IP-VPN is supplied to the customer, a network carrier lays new network that connects between branches, configures IP-VPN network and tests the configuration of network. The network carrier must deal with the demand of IP-VPN provisioning rapidly so that the period of IP-VPN provisioning is shortened. On the other hand, in the network test, a customer would like to witness. So the scheduling time becomes long. And then the network test takes more time because tester configures manually. There is a problem that the period of IP-VPN provisioning might become long. For this reason, we propose a new approach to automated testing for IP-VPN provisioning. In our proposal, the network carrier establishes a test management server. In addition the network carrier establishes a router and a testing machine for the network test at the customer site. Our proposed system automates the network test by cooperation of the test management server and the testing machine. We implement the system based on the proposed approach, and measure the configuration time to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach in mock IP-VPN network. We also demonstrate that our system can shorten the period of IP-VPN provisioning.
