It is important to predict rain attenuation statistics in designing wireless communication links. In predicting rain attenuation statistics, it is recommended by ITU-R to use cumulative distributions of rainfall rate measured at an integration time of one minute. There are a number of methods to estimate cumulative distributions of one-minute rainfall rate.
This study focuses attention to the method to estimate cumulative distributions of one-minute rainfall rate from the one-minute rainfall data measured by tipping-bucket type rain gauges (TBRG). This method is a second-based random distribution process proposed by Ono et al.The object of the present study is to propose a method to improve the accuracy of this method by modifying the distribution process to conform with the measurement principle of TBRG and its statistical treatment. This improved method is validated by using actual data of rainfall time series obtained by high resolution rain gauges. |
