We are studying some techniques to reduce the required C/N for multi-level APSKs in the advanced satellite broadcasting system, which have high transmission efficiencies, aiming for adopting broadcasting and SNG systems. We propose a non-linear compensation technique on the transmitter since multi-level APSKs are vulnerable to non-linear distortion of satellite transponder. This technique estimates the signal point error vectors over satellite transponder in advance and transmits the compensated signal points by opposite vectors of these estimated error vectors. We report the configuration of proto-type transmitter and results of the transmission experiment using satellite channel simulator. |
