Optical wireless communication system using LED as a signal source is expected as the next generation communication infrastructure. However, the background optical noise and the multi access interference (MAI) noise induce the serious quality degradation. In this paper, we proposed the Binary Spectrum Spread (BSS) modulation for the optical wireless communication system. We measured the MAI noise tolerance and the white noise tolerance of the system by experimentally using the LED traffic light communication system. The transmission characteristics were improved (Qfactor>6) using BSS modulation compared with the systems using On Off keying (OOK) modulation and Manchester code modulation. |
