| (in English) | Location information is growing on the Internet, due to the spread of mobile devices and social media worldwide. This paper discusses similarities and differences in information-posting behavior among locales based on geographical information extracted from images shot on mobile devices, then posted on blogs and location information services (e.g. Foursquare, which is commonly linked on Twitter posts). To collect images from blogs updated daily and extract geographical information, an information system has been implemented and maintained for geographical and time-series analysis. According to the results of analysis, six major characteristics have been found. First, almost all pictures with geographical information on blogs are shot by iPhone. Second, there are many newer iPhone 3GSs in three areas (i.e. Hyogo, Osaka, and Okinawa) and many older iPhone 3Gs in another (i.e., Miyagi). Third, in terms of mutual correlation, images are quickly posted on blogs in business centers (i.e., Tokyo and Osaka), whereas they are posted on blogs long after they were shot in residential areas (i.e. Kanagawa and Hyogo). Fourth, Twitter posts containing location information more closely resemble blog posts than images in terms of posting time. Fifth, America, Asia, and Europe post location information at the highest frequency. Sixth, among three peaks of posting frequency (i.e., morning, afternoon, evening), the highest frequency is observed in the evening. | |
