An Evaluation on End-to-End Communication Quality in LTE Kitakyushu Field Trial at Specified Ubiquitous District

(in English) LTE is expected as a next generation mobile system which provides better communication quality (higher throughput and lower delay performance) than current HSDPA standard. Softbank Mobile Corp. carried out an LTE field trial in FY 2009 at the specified ubiquitous district in Yahata-Higashi district, Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka. In the trial, the authors measured the throughput and delay performance of UDP and TCP to evaluate the end-to-end communication quality between a server and a client over the LTE system. An IP application was also executed on the LTE system to evaluate the communication quality. This paper reports the measurement and evaluation result of the LTE field trial.
