Estimation of Direction-of-Arrival Dependence of Whole-Body Averaged SAR in Japanese Human Models Exposed to Plane-Wave

(in English) Whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WB-SAR) in realistic human models exposed to RF plane-wave has been estimated by numerical calculations. WB-SAR estimations using numerical calculation exhibit some variations due to difference in human shape or program code in several laboratories. On the other hand, there seems to be no experimental studies which have reported highly accurate and reproducible results for realistic shaped human models. We have proposed a novel WB-SAR estimation method based on external-cylindrical fields scanning technique and carried out measurements using realistic shaped human phantom to confirm the availability of the measurement system. In this paper, we evaluate dependence of WB-SAR upon the direction of arrival (DOA) of plane-wave for Japanese male and child using the constructed measurement system.
