Minimum Classification Error Training with Automatic Control of Loss Smoothness

(in English) The smoothness embedded in the Minimum Classification Error formalization has an effect of increasing virtual training samples, which leads to the high robustness to unknown samples. However, a rational method for controlling the smoothness has not yet been developed. To alleviate this long-standing problem, we propose in this paper a new method for contolling the loss function smoothness through the Parzen kernel width estimation with the cross-validation maximum likelihood method. Experiments clearly show the high utility of the proposedmethod.
