The purpose of this study is to design a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for the communication devices of patients with severe neuromuscular disease. The auditory event-related potential (P300) is used for controlling this interface. Although the P300 derived by the visual stimulus is usually applied to these kinds of interface, these systems have a limitation in the duration of use and the range of applicable user. Therefore we have examined the spatialized auditory stimulus to solve these problems. In this paper, we firstly describe a basic experiment on the possibility of the derivation of P300 by the spatialized auditory stimuli with two different localized sound. Then, the result of an examination on two types of the spatialized auditory stimuli in two frequencies is considered. Finally, the effectiveness and the limitation of spatialized auditory stimulus for BCI are discussed. |
