Laryngectomees need some alternative methods of speaking to produce alaryngeal speech. Their common problem is that any type of alaryngeal speech suffers from lack of naturalness and speaker individuality. To address this problem, we have developed statistical voice conversion techniques for alaryngeal speech enhancement and have demonstrated that they yield significant improvements in naturalness and speaker individuality of three types of alaryngeal speech: 1) esophageal speech; 2) electrolaryngeal speech; and 3) body-conducted silent electrolaryngeal speech. This paper gives an overview of our developed technologies for alaryngeal speech enhancement. |
