Estimation of muscle activity by EMG frequency analysis during exercise on a cycle ergometer

(in English) The purpose of this study was to estimation of muscle activity by clarifying variations of EMG frequency during exercise on a cycle ergometer. We measured EMG while a work load of exercise was increased and the combination of pedaling rate and torque was changed. Then we conducted time-frequency analysis of EMG signals using Matching Pursuit. The result of this study, the combination of low pedaling rate and high torque brought an increase of power spectrum, and an increase of power spectrum of the high and middle frequency range. The result showed that increasing torque is effective to increase muscle activity.
