(in English) Does masculinity truly contribute to men’s facial attractiveness? From evolutional perspective, it is expected that men’s facial masculinity could associates with his attractiveness but it is not clear until now. In this study, it is proposed that the effect of men’s facial masculinity on attractiveness judgment is confounding with the effect of angry expression; masculine faces would be judged not so much attractive by female (not male) raters because they tend to be misperceived as being angry and then felt scary. It is suggested that men’s facial masculinity itself actually contributing attractiveness when the effect of angry perception is statistically controlled.
