(in English) The author has been doing original researches in the fields of fiber optics and fiber-based optical devices. This paper outlines the research works, including systematic derivation of variational expressions for electromagnetic and/or acoustic waves, exact analysis of group velocity, refractive-index profile measurements of optical waveguides, dispersive fibers and their applications, and fabricating optical devices and modifying their properties by the glass structure change.
