The non-Gaussianity of probability distribution of intensity in ocean SAR image in the L- and X-band parallel polarizations is analyzed based on the log-normal distribution and the non-Gaussian distribution. Though in the X-band parallel polarization, the non-Gaussianity represents the incidence angle dependency, in the L-band, the incidence angle dependency is quite weak. In the X-band, the non- Gaussianity also depends on the polarization. In the L-band the difference of non-Gaussianity between the parallel polarizations is small. The non-Gaussianity in the X-band is stronger than that in the L-band. Moreover, the non-Gaussianity is almost independent to the illumination azimuth (geometry of illumination and wind direction). The difference of non-Gaussianity represents the difference of scattering mechanism on ocean surface |
