Throughput performance of WLAN networks with hybrid use of omni-directional and adaptive directional antennas

(in English) The future dense deployment of Wireless LAN (WLAN) networks using CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) will result in the network throughput degradation due to the mutual interference among APs (Access Points) and STAs (Stations). To solve this problem, WLAN using adaptive directional antenna is proposed to reduce the mutual interference and to improve the network throughput. In the deployment of WLAN using adaptive directional antenna, likely deployment scenario will be the hybrid use of omni-directional antenna and adaptive directional antenna. This paper evaluates the network throughput improvement of WLAN using adaptive directional antennas when it is deployed in combination with WLAN using omni-directional antenna.
