A pico-satellite HAYATO (KSAT) was launched on the piggyback of HIIA 17
from Tanegashima Space Center on May 21, 2010, and put into a circular
orbit of altitude of 300 km. The satellite has a 10-cm cube structure,
and its weight is 1.43 kg. Uplink and downlink frequencies are S-band
and Ku-band, respectively.
We had successfully caught telemetry signals with a ground control
system at Kagoshima University after eleven days of the satellite
launch. This is a first case of Ku-band operation for 10-cm cube
satellites. After seven straight day's operation, we had lost signals.
Despite of the unremitting work to seek the satellite, the altitude of
the satellite rapidly delayed due to drag produced by an atmosphere and
disappeared on July 14.
In this report, outline of the ground control system and results of
satellite tracking are described. |
